In Lent Suggestion #26, we encourage you to consider a Bible Study for your own Lenten journey.  Why not do it with a friend or family member?

The older we get, the more we settle into our daily routines, especially the habit of hitting the coffee shop before we head into work.

Remember that Lent is all about conversion and while practicing the spiritual works of mercy isn't technically Almsgiving, it's worth taking the time for a refresher course.

" 'Tis better to give than receive." We've all heard this phrase repeatedly, but in truth, if we have difficulty receiving God's mercy in our own lives, it may not be easy to show mercy toward others.

The mission of our two parishes is simple: Save Souls!  One of the ways in which we do that is to offer different ministries that support our personal growth strengthening us to "make disciples of all nations."  If we don't strengthen ourselves we will quickly grow weary.

Each Lent, Catholic families across the country unite to put their faith into action through prayer, fasting, and almsgiving.

There are a number of organizations that help those get back on their feet that have been knocked down by the blows of life. 

"They say absence makes the heart grow fonder. I guess you could say that abstinence makes the body (and soul) grow holier… if we embrace it and allow it." 

We usually notice when other people are being arrogant or behave as though they are better than us.  But we're typically quick to look past our own overbearing pride.  

"...what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?" Matthew 16:26

It seems obvious that we should not be lazy, but let's be honest; we are all guilty of wasting time or not doing the best job we can possibly do.

Can't fast from these things altogether? We get it. But why not replace 30 minutes of screen time with 30 minutes of prayer time.

UGH! This must be one of the most difficult things to fast from.  Complaining, gossip, foul language.  They all seem to come so much easier than gracious speech.

Why go to daily Mass? It is prayer in its highest form, and can be less distracting than Sunday. Think of it as Sunday's celebration without all the bells and whistles, and the opportunity to give Jesus your full and undivided attention.
