What are you called to? Marriage? Single life? Religious life? While most people will be called to marriage, some will be called to the single or religious life. But the only way to truly find out is to ask!
Why? The process of discerning our vocation places God squarely at the center of our lives. While we can be anything we want, discernment says to God, "I want what you want." This is not always as easy as it sounds. Fear can find its way in and we wonder if we surrender to God's call on our life, will we be happy? Truly, God wants us to be happy. But sometimes that happiness comes in a different form than we expect.
Consider praying a 54-day Rosary Novena for your vocation which consists of spending 27 days in a prayer of petition (asking the Lord for what you desire) and spending 27 days in a prayer of thanksgiving, whether or not you got what you wanted. Not an easy task when we live in a culture of short attention spans and instant gratification. But God wants to hear from you and Mary waits to intercede for us.
What to expect? Working through 54 days may seem arduous. But the bible tells us to persist in our prayers
"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9. Consider beginning your novena on Ash Wednesday (February 17, 2021) and ending it on Divine Mercy Sunday (April 11, 2021) which is 54 days. To assist in your journey, it may be helpful to purchase a Rosary Novena booklet that contains prayers and a novena checklist for keeping track of days. Find the link
